Questions & Answers - Public holidays

Question 1

Date: 18/08/2009

Question:

Are you entitled to a public holiday if you are on leave of absence?

Answer:

It ultimately depends on what kind of leave of absence the employee is on. If, for example, the employee is on annual leave, then they will be entitled to the benefit of a public holiday should there be one whilst they are absent from employment (i.e. they will not lose a day of accrued annual leave for the public holiday).
